Multi-Channel Serial PortOne connector — 3.5 channels. That is the gist of the multi-channel serial port. Devices supporting this feature have a single RS232 port connector (DB9M) and are priced as single-port products, yet pack four independent serial channels. Have no use for those DSR and DTR lines? Turn them into RX and TX of an additional serial channel. Don't want CTS and RTS either? That's one more channel!
