1. Install the software

    Install the dhcp-server package using package manager of your Linux distribution.

  2. Configure the server

    Configure the DHCP server by editing configuration file /etc/dhcpd.conf. See the example below:
    ddns-update-style none;
    subnet netmask {
        option routers;
        option subnet-mask;
        option domain-name-servers;
        default-lease-time 21600;
        max-lease-time 43200;

  3. Restart the DHCP server

    Restart the DHCP server to apply your changes by commands
    systemctl restart dhcp-server
    service dhcp-server restart
    or other, depending on your Linux version.
    DHCP server is ready.
