Hardware/Layout Engineer Position

At the moment, we are mainly looking for a Hardware/Layout Engineer. This job opening is in our Taipei office. The job cannot be performed remotely. To apply for it, fill out the Hardware Engineer Job Application Form.

Requirements:

  • Acceptable English level (able to communicate, read, and write).
  • University or college degree (major in Electronics Engineering or similar field).
  • Experience in digital hardware design. Experience in the following circuitry types are of special interest to us:
    • Digital circuitry (gates, microcontrollers, memory, etc.);
    • High-speed interface circuitry (Ethernet, USB, etc.);
    • Switching power supplies;
    • Low-frequency analog circuitry (OP, ADC, ACD, etc.);
    • Radio circuitry (Wi-Fi, ZigBee, etc.).
  • Ability to work with your hands (able to solder components, use scope, etc.).
  • Good practical knowledge of Altium Designer (Protel) or some other PCB layout software.

In many companies, product design is "streamlined", with each person taking care of a particular design stage. For example, one person may be responsible for creating schematic diagrams, another — for PCB layout, yet another person assembles and tests samples.

Here at Tibbo we use a different system. You take on a project, and you take care of all stages of this project's development — schematics, layout, prototyping, etc. (one exception is firmware — you don't have to do that all by yourself). We believe that this approach stimulates creative thinking, allows you to design a better product, and offers you a way to improve and expand your skills!

As a hardware/layout engineer, you will:

  • Design the hardware.
  • Create schematic diagrams.
  • Design prototype PCBs.
  • Create necessary component libraries.
  • Design PCBs and perform manual layout.
  • Prepare PCB production files and order PCB samples.
  • Assemble the PCB by hand and test it (together with our firmware engineers when necessary).
