Creating New Devices

The Objective
Build an inexpensive networked Time Recorder (time/attendance terminal) that can be controlled through a web-browser.
Traditional Approach
Rather heavy systems based on Linux or other "full" OS are often used for the relatively simple task of time recording. This is in large part due to connectivity needs — Ethernet, Wi-Fi, TCP, browser-based control, etc.
Our Solution
Use Tibbo’s EM1000 embedded module as a central building block of the time recorder.
Benefits
- Simple hardware — all device elements such as a card reader, display, keyboard, etc are connected to the EM1000 directly. The EM1000 already has Ethernet, flash disk, and real-time clock onboard.
- Fast development cycle due to highly integrated hardware is further aided by high-level objects, libraries, and even a full application available for at no cost.
- Easy customization when needed. Resulting code is simple and can be easily modified to suit the requirements of end customers.
- Easy extensibility. For example, WA1000 Wi-Fi add-on can be installed when needed.
